Saturday Shenanigans

Put coconut oil on my very tender nose a couple of days ago and, I swear, the healing seemed accelerated.

I've almost gone through a family-sized bag of Ricola but I feel functional again -- except for the watery, itchy eyes -- never had that before. Alison told me that when it's fall-like, her eyes do the same thing.

Why would anyone waterboard someone when they could just put them in a room with allergens?

Went to get Wal-dryl and couldn't believe that watery, itchy eyes is on the front of the box; I've never seen that before...

Opened up the window in my bedroom, again. Wiped down everything that I remembered touching, again. Stripped my bed, again, and headed to the laundromat...

All In: Decorative Pillow, Thin Quilt, Sheets etc...
I wasn't sure what to expect with the meditation challenge but, so far, Counting Meditation (Day 4 Lesson)  has worked the best. The lessons are short but I was still surprised when this lesson ended. Counting is definitely a technique I'll use again...

I've been walking a lot lately and, therefore, listening to podcasts again. Tara Clancy's Lesbian Babymaking 101 is so funny. It's one of those stories that I could listen to repeatedly. I also have Clancy's book, The Clancys Of Queens, on my to-read list.

  1. I liked the counting meditation too. Was a little leery at first because I have an OCD-like habit of counting things, which I had always considered to be something dysfunctional in my brain, but now I'm re-examining it as maybe something that helps me cope.

This reminds me of something I read once, about "counting sheep" to fall asleep. The idea is the same, to give you just enough to concentrate on that it mutes those distracting thoughts. But most people need to add a little more to the visualization - instead of just counting sheep, you imagine each one jumping over the fence as a different color, and with the number on its side. That apparently is the right amount of brain activity to keep you "interested" in doing it without being so much that it keeps you awake.

I'm glad you mentioned that Lesbian Babymaking Moth; I had listened to it in bed and fell asleep before I finished it (just like counting sheep to me...). Just re-listened to it now and it's hilarious.

<3 Cory Booker. I'm not always in perfect agreement with him, but he's always a breath of fresh air. That's the kind of "says what he thinks" that I admire.

I use coconut oil on my skin all the time. However I find I have to keep it away from eyes, it causes some kind of reaction, red and swollen.

  2. Also: I just saw that Fly Brother is looking for an assistant/social media manager for his site. That sounds intriguing...

  3. I think that's a good way to look at the counting strategy...

You're the second person who's told me that they use coconut oil as a moisturizer. Think that I'll mix it with lotion and try it.

I haven't read Fly Brother's blog in a while but I'm going to catch up...
