In addition, December marks my one year climbing anniversary of sorts. While December of '09 was not the first time that I climbed, it was when I started climbing consistently and stopped having pre-climbing jitters. I could have never imagined how the rock climbing gym would become such a haven.
Here's how things went down in 2010. I hope that your year was equally productive. Did you find yourself relying on one activity over others? See you on the flip side of 2011 where I plan to rock steady...

Man I'm tired from all of those reps! lol :) You had a very active 2010! :) I plan on sticking to my pool exercise and once we move (still crossing our fingers about the loan) we have a cool trail right outside our front door! New bikes are in store and with the help of those sessions I am attending hopefully some nice walks too! :) HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2011 is going to be a great one!
ReplyDeleteWOW what a year! Thanks for being such an inspiration. 2011 is going to ROCK.
ReplyDeleteGood grief!! I sweated just reading your list! Sometimes I get tired of the gym too, so I signed up for a 10K. You have some great stuff on here that I am going to try out for more variety in my workouts. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite the list and the women on the covers of those workouts have amazing abs. I feel...uhm...somewhat inadequate...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Happy new year!
@TJ,
ReplyDeleteCrossing my fingers and toes for you. ;) It will be so cool for you to have a trail right outside of your door -- even cooler to have the option to bicycle down said trail.
Happy New Year to you as well.
@gingersnapper,
Thanks woman. HNY and cheers to making 2011 rock.
@Jane,
I hope that you like sweating as much as I do. :)
Kudos on signing up for the 10K. I would like to sign up for an event too...
Good luck with the workouts and thanks.
@sarabeck,
When I grow up, I want to have abs like those women and, by the way, you're not inadequate -- not even somewhat. ;)
HNY...
HOLY MOLY!!!!!! you are like the poster child for mixin' things up and not getting into an exerise rut.
ReplyDeleteawesome. rock climbing 84 times....good for you! when you go, how long is your climbing session?
i guess i found myself relying mostly on walking/weights/stationary bike. i like the rhythmic motions of those exercise....not alot of thought or awkward jerky movements involved. i should branch out more, i just like to also use my exercise time to "meditate, pray, think, organize my mental roladex", so rhythmic steady exercises are more conducive to those things.
can't wait to see what you explore this year!
Heather,
ReplyDeleteI'm a poster child all right. ;)
We usually spend about two hours (sometimes more) at the climbing gym but a lot of time is spent tying knots, doing safety checks and waiting for routes if it's crowd. We yak a lot too.
It usually takes about two minutes to get up a route -- if I'm climbing within my comfort zone. I tend to get wiped out after 10 routes...
Do you like the elliptical trainer?
I have to say that exercise has definitely brought me peace of mind -- especially when walking.
