More On Breathing

Did not feel like showering or putting on lotion tonight but I don't do a.m. showers. I'd rather sleep longer or read longer or slowly drink a cup of coffee.

Maybe Lizzie's responsible for my mood. I went to gentle yoga after work and gentle is the only type of class that Lizzie teaches so I guess you can rightfully call her a relaxation specialist.

While we were in a supported, reclining twist, Lizzie said There is no work to do -- just attending to the in and out of the breath. Just hearing her say that made me concentrate more on breathing.  There was a quiet and peaceful energy that took over the room with Lizzie's guiding.

Trying to decide if I should go to Zumba on Saturday or continue with my fantasy sports camp and go to yoga instead.

State of the Ankle

Stopped wearing my foot brace prematurely because my ankle was golf ball size again. Ice, ibuprofen, yadda yadda yadda. At least my knee isn't quite so tight anymore...

Yesterday
Went to the gentlest of gentle yoga classes after work. Effort-wise, it was somewhere between gentle and restorative and, during savasana, the teacher came around and dabbed essential oil on our hands AND there was a piece of gingerbread cake on the end of our mats. She said that it wasn't vegan or gluten-free but that it had good ingredients.

The teacher, new to me, was celebrating winter solstice early since she won't be able to do it because of the holiday schedule next week...

One of my colleagues suggested that I do Pilates since I wouldn't have to stand while doing it but I think that it's more break time for me. The swimming pool that I go to is connected with a school and is on break and I don't want to do anything more energetic right now so gentle yoga it is.

Requiem for Kettlebell Class

I have been out of sorts and crabby as hell. I've probably dropped more curse words in the last couple days than I did during 2013.

Took myself to Gloria's p.m. class and Mike asked for a post-shoveling yoga class. More please.

It was an amazing class and I realized, again, that I have an affinity for gentle yoga. I kept thinking in interjections.

Un hunh...

Um...

Toward the end of class, the music stopped. The flutey, bell-ringing music was nice but I thoroughly enjoyed the silence.

Wednesday is usually kettlebell day but I will not be going to kettlebell class anymore.

Marisa sent an email with new policies (use it in four weeks or lose it) and a price raise. Her prices were already right at my comfort zone. The increase, though small, made me realize how much money I had spent in addition to my expenses for other activities and memberships. If I did kettlebell more than once a week, the price structure would make more sense but since I don't...

It's hard to say goodbye. I liked Marisa the first day that I met her and I'll miss my fellow swingers: Crazy Lats, Julia, Paige and Princess T.

There's a part of me that thinks that if I am left to my own devices, I'm going to drop the ball and screw up and become lackadaisical but it's always been up to me --whether I'm at the pool or on my bicycle; it's on me to be responsible for my fitness.

Now, I just need to retrieve my kettlebell.
