Read All About It

Fat, again! That was the headline-like thought that went through my head while I was in Zumba class on Thursday until I got home and saw that more hell had broken out -- this time in Dallas and, all of a sudden, my weight was the last thing on my mind.

Went to Zumba again today then went shopping to see if they had a certain size of Clark Cloudsteppers but they didn't. I ended up with candy cane shorts, though, so it was a win. Also, the Cloudsteppers in the store are more than half the price of the ones online...

Pockets!
Waited until the heat dissipated around 6:30 p.m. to cut the grass and didn't come out of the yard until two hours later. It was nice to be outside once I got the whole mowing thing out of the way...

I'm not going to say much about the current events except to say that Saeed Jones quoted the final lines of Danez Smith's It Doesn't Feel Like A Time To Write and it is resonating with me right now.

it doesn’t feel like a time to write
when all my muses are begging
for their lives.

  1. Candy cane shorts FTW.

Smith's poem is incredible, I bookmarked it so I can read it several times.

    "if you still say
things like we need all the info,
    there must be a reason
    then i can’t waste
    anymore time on you."

Have been feeling like that myself. Had one too many conversations explaining (trying to explain) what #BLM means, and why there isn't an "also" attached. At this point, anyone who doesn't understand doesn't WANT to understand, and has as good as declared themselves a racist. It's a litmus test now.

  2. Yeah, explaining to some is like repeatedly banging your head against the wall. Smith nails it: then I can't waste anymore time..."
