Victory Is Mine

As some of you know, I've been uncluttering and, in the process, I've unearthed some ancient artifacts including a pair of shorts that I bought in Atlanta eons ago.

I wanted a souvenir from Spelman College and assumed that I would be able to wear a large but I was not able to. Disappointed, I put the shorts away and haven't thought about them in years.

As I was getting rid of more stuff and assessing what needed to be shed, I got the urge to put on the shorts not completely sure whether or not I'd be able to wear them and when I was able to comfortably pull them up, I got completely weepy.

As the scale stands stagnant like old water attracting mosquitoes, I remind myself to stay focused. To eat, as Gingersnapper said, nutritionally useful food and to honor those non-scale victories.

Any victories, non-scale or otherwise, in your corner of the world? Do tell...

  1. NSV it is! Great job being able to pull up those old shorts! :) WHOOHOO! :)

  2. Yay!! And look at how skinny you are!! Wow! :D

I think my NSVs right now are all centered around me not wanting to eat even when I'm depressed.

  3. Congratulations! It's annoying when the scale doesn't move, but obviously change IS occurring. Tell the scale to eff off, Little Miss Tushie.

  4. That must have been so exciting to pull them on and have them fit so wonderfully! Congratulations to you!

  5. @TJ,

    Thanks for the cheers. :)

I put the shorts back in the drawer but I'm gonna rock 'em, girl. ;)

When I saw the picture, I was surprised by how I've whittled down and I think that's one of the reasons that I got weepy.

That's a great NSV on your end too.

You're right as you often are -- change IS occurring and I need to appreciate that more often. Thanks. :)

It is a pretty cool feeling. :)

  6. You look great! I love the shorts!

A few people have asked if I've lost weight lately, and I don't think I have. Need to check! BUT, I have been running a lot -- 12 out of the past 14 days and I've worked out 13 out of the past 14 days!

  7. @Nicole, RD,

Thanks. :) I've always liked those shorts and it's so cool that I finally get to wear them.

Kudos on all of the running you've done; you're representing on the exercise front.

Also, if people are telling you that you've lost weight, you probably have...People are sometimes better than the scale.
