I've been looking for some faster food options that don't include McDonald's or Wendy's.
I picked these up at Dierbergs a few days ago.
You know what all of that no (no gluten, no casein, milk, soy etc.) means? More money. I don't mind splurging, though, when it comes to food and fitness items.
Nutrition FactsI was looking through Cooking Light and Everyday Food (a Martha Stewart joint). Everyday Food has some good tips but I lost hope of finding a good recipe when I came across Lemon Trifle and three-cheese skillet lasagna. The latter recipe has 690 calories and 33.5 grams of fat per serving.Calories 220 Calories from Fat 90 Total Fat 10g Saturated 1 g Cholesterol 25mg Sodium 300 mg Total Carbohydrate 22g Sugars 0 Protein 11g
I'm glad that you found something you are looking forward to eating! I often modify recipes to make them healthier.
ReplyDeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteIf only I felt like cooking... I know it's a phase though. I'm tired of my current rotation of recipes. So, I'll have to search for some new ones that are not too labor intensive.
It's hard to imagine that anyone could be eating like that family is, and on a regular basis? how could they not realize how many calories and fat and junk they were eating? I still hit the fast food now and then but I know perfectly well what I am doing and what I am eating. french fries are still my downfall...
ReplyDeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteI saw two former Biggest Loser contestants on The Today Show and they were talking about the thousands of people auditioning for the next show. I think a lot of people ignore the nutrition stats and, all of sudden, the weight creeps up...
I used to go to McDonald's just for french fries but, now, I bake them which reminds me that I haven't had oven fries in awhile. Mmmm. ;)
Yikes. I watched the video you posted about the family. A few months ago my nutritionist recommended that I eat more calories, but I usually take that to mean to stock up on more ice-cream and cake and all that yummy stuff which pretty much leaves me feeling tired. I think I need to try to get healthier calories.
ReplyDeleteSara,
ReplyDeleteYeah, be careful what you put in that temple.
Of course, the cake and cream is hard to resist not to mention the chocolate chip cookies. Okay, I'm going to stop this trip down memory lane. ;)
